The cost of the medical and social sectors for Ukraine consists not only in the fact that these sectors absorb 30% of the national budget, but also in the fact that the competitiveness of these sectors is the general competitiveness of the country. An important question is: what is the state of human health of a country? How much does it cost? How fast can a workforce eliminate health problems? How quickly can an employee return to entrepreneurship after an illness to continue working and how much is the economy of entrepreneurship? What configuration does the network of medical and social institutions have and how does the quality of the networks help quickly and conveniently receive high-quality medical and social services that help return to the labor market? What qualifications do medical specialists have and by what technologies in this configuration are they trying to solve public health problems? Such and similar should be answered by politicians for the development of the medical and social sectors.
Political decisions in the medical sector are important because they affect not only the sector itself, but also the competitiveness and livelihoods of society itself.
A study by Rand Corporation (USA) shows that a decision to configure a medical institution’s network through out of closure can lead to an increase in unemployment of up to 1.7% and a decrease in economic value of 0.7%.
The Committee on State Policy in the Medical and Social Sector eats to create a platform for consultations and discussions not only for politicians in the medical and social sectors, but also for employees of their sectors and organized patient groups, which will be based on international experience.
